Biography
Born into the world with a death sentence already hanging over his head, Theros felt no camaraderie with the other dragons of his flight. Certainly he saw no benefit to nurturing the lives of others, not when his own was doomed to pathetically wither away from disease. Watching the others gaily toil in the forested wilds of the Viridian Labyrinth, he grew bitter and mean, and took to venting his frustrations by shredding saplings, uprooting trees, and terrorizing the local fauna. These actions earned him no friends; his fellow dragons, disgusted by his behavior, drove him from the forest and into isolation. He wandered for a time, vicious and brooding, avoiding prolonged contact with any one dragon, until he reached the Starfall Isles and heard rumors claiming that the icy climes of the Southern Icefield could slow the progression of his disease.
He crossed to the Floes in one ill-conceived flight, fighting headwinds and turbulent air currents until his eyes frosted over and his wing membranes cracked apart and bled. His journey came to a rough and unintended end when he crash-landed on the ice, several miles short of his original goal. Exhausted, injured, and snowblind, Theros managed to drag himself only a short distance before collapsing. There he remained for several days, barely conscious, until Visgard stumbled across him.
None of the clan had ever seen his particular disease before, save for Tiamat, who insisted that they immediately abandon him to die lest any other clan members fall ill. Enoch favored clemency, expressing his fervent belief that the disease was not at all transmissible. When Ravana sided with Tiamat, Rakuna, naturally, took the opposite tack and decided that they would assist the ailing Ridgeback. After recovering from his injuries he remained with the clan, having nowhere else to go. As most of the others believe he is contagious, he has few friends, but he lends his full strength to the clan whenever the need arises. The fatalistic attitude he cultivates towards his inevitable death has turned him into a reckless but ruthless fighter, and Rakuna considers him to be one of the clan's most valuable defenders.
