![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Necromancers tend to birth necromancers. It's not a hereditary occupation, but when one is so deeply entrenched in the necromancer's culture it is rare that their children are also not exposed to it. Such was the case of Pelindar, one of a handful of children in a necromantic outpost in Dragonhome. Her clan elders made it their duty to spread Plaguebringer's word, Her desires, and it was difficult going in the Earthshaker's territory where their beliefs were often challenged. Still, rot-born dragons are nothing if not unafraid of adversity and they persisted in their duties. But Pelindar has no particular devotion to the mother of rot and never felt quite as strongly as their clan did. There is a respect for the plaguebringer, of course, as she nourished the land that Pelindar now lives and breathes but the feverent desire to enact Her will evades Pelindar entirely. It was unthinkable to do anything but travel to the Wasteland and undertake their trials, even if they lacked the passion such an endeavour should demand. But what else could they do, though? They were a necromancer by blood and a necromancer they would become. dragonhome was not a particularly kind home for someone of their clan's beliefs and, if they turn their back on their ancestral path, then they believe it will have all been for nothing. Though she was successful, Pelindar opted to make their first genuine choice upon receiving the council's acknowledgement as a newly fledged necromancer - they travelled to the Undercroft rather than returning home to spread Plaguebringer's glory in the dusty canyons she'd called home. Though their body had changed and they had been saddled with a title they might not have truly wished for, she took the opportunity to strike out for herself. Among the bustling city, Pelindar could fall into comfortable obscurity and shake off the weight of expectation. They were just one of many dragons, after all. Necromancers were not an uncommon sight and they were offered little, if any, scrutiny as they went about their business. She found work in managing tomes and archive organisation, which they were mostly happy to do and allowed her to spend their free time studying 'unnecessary' magic - glamours. As politics in the undercroft can see the rise and fall of small factions go by in a blink of an eye, Pelindar has offered their services to a number of different employers. Currently, they work for the Pyretic Conntagion. Though not officially considered a scribe to the Contagion, Pelindar would easily fill this role if they were ever offered the opportunity. Whether they would accept is another matter. Pelindar is, by no stretch, an intimidating dragon. They're small and quick to flee, so to compensate they applied their studies on glamour to their own body. Their face is a skeletal maw, jagged bones leading to the brilliant crimson of their throat, but is is a mere glamour...although this doesn't make their offputting apperance any less convicing if you don't expect it. - needs primary/secondary gene changing but she's a necromancer....soon tm. Pretend it's the glamour? - spooky looking librarian/book keeper | x |
