Taranis is the headstrong, obnoxious representative of the lightning flight. He is constantly scheming to gain more power among the council and eventually become the monarch, however Taranis' plans always fail and usually make him even more unpopular. While many other representatives openly dislike Taranis, he does not care.
Taranis is not a mage, not a fighter (though he thinks he is), and has no knowledge in any kind of useful skill. No one really knows why or how he was chosen to represent the lightning flight, but it is probably because he is a ridgeback who is native to the shifting expanse and, other than his less-than-helpful personality, is not terrible at his job.
Taranis used to be called Terry but changed his name; he tries to be as intimidating and edgy-looking as possible. He consistently fails at this, since he is one of the smaller and weaker-looking ridgebacks in the clan.
Taranis' sworn enemy is Orion, since he feels threatened, believing that Orion also wants to become the reigning monarch. Orion is puzzled by this because he really doesn't want to go anywhere near the palace, preferring to stay in the library with Whisper and the other librarians.

S T O R Y

lightning crackled around Taranis as he paraded about the castle, pretending like he was the monarch. The ridgeback barked orders at any lower-ranked dragons he passed, however they all ignored him, much to the ridgeback's dismay. Still, Taranis continued his strange walk, doing nothing helpful even though he had been told to clean the council meeting room.
