Captain Nala made her good nights and went of to her cabin.
"I should be getting back the Kik myself." DralaFi replied.
"I'll escort you." Dogato volunteered.
As they moved to the gang plank, he said. "You didn't seem content with the explanation  on the new Bonnie Cross purchase."
"It does seem a little out of character. Selling a perfectly good sloop for a, well, slower ship."
"It wasn't a perfectly good ship." She stopped when he did and faced him.
"Not long after we left we were attacked."
"Pirates? Hunters ?"
"Neither, hostile revenge."
She gave him a confused look.
"We were attacked by the Blaine."
"What?" Her anger superseded only by her surprise. Dogato nodded.
"Ludic came in close under a cease fire banner. Then shouted something about everything being Nala's fault. He ordered a broadside. We would have taken serious damage if not for over half his crew mutinying."
"We all had friends on both ships." Drala stated.
"Aye, and that is what saved us. The battle was quick but intense. The Bonnie Cross, the sloop, was damaged enough that repairs would take time. It was decided that we would sell both the Cross and the Blaine and upgrade to a larger vessel that would accommodate ours and the added crew from the Blaine."
" I thought I recognized some of Ludic's crew."
"I wanted you to know. Nala is still upset about it. Ludic claimed it was her fault for losing Sonnet and his first officer."
"That's ridiculous. He and Sonnet were on the outs for months and she didn't begin to be attracted to Vorchan until after they ended their relationship."
"So are they?"
"Vorchan is Sonnet's bodyguard." She air quoted and smiled. "Neither are admitting anything other than that."
"Good for him. He's a good sort."
She agreed, "And what of Ludic?"
He sighed. "Unsure, he attacked Nala. He was injured in the fight and fled.
He might have drown for all we know. It was a bad cut."
"Sad."
"Aye."
"Well, happier days begin tomorrow. Welcome home to Lulungomeena."
"Thanks, it will be good to be home.”
