Biography
A Fae dragon with flames depicted on her wings awoke in an untended nest in a former rebel stronghold in the Firelands, and was quickly swept up in the chaos the rebellion had caused. She chose not to partake in either side, although her sympathy is much more towards the rebels, and founded her own lair, away from the areas of active fighting. In order to avoid her descendants experiencing similar isolation from their family, she named her family Apaivam, meaning "From One", and the one value she tries to instill in all the young dragons in the lair is to remember their heritage. They don't need to honor, love, or even care about it, but knowing it is important.
This young dragon falls somewhere between the Mad Hatter and a mad scientist in her profession and hobbies. She makes her living producing and purifying the various chemicals needed to process ores and work metals, but she much prefers socializing with visitors. While her hospitality and conversation are delightful, her "tea" is best left unconsumed by the unwary, as it can and will temporarily shift a dragon's size to that of another breed. There are rumors it has other effects as well, but Blazewing keeps any other variants under tight control.
Despite the hazards of her various beverage offerings, her company is enjoyable enough for those who can handle her chaos that a den has formed with her as the core figure.
Blazewing is highly unusual in that when speaking to non-Fae dragons, she displays a lively tone of voice and body language appropriate to the breed to whom she is speaking. This is not a native trait; when she was very young, she was extremely frustrated by the inability to communicate with the Coatl dragons who lived nearby, so she learned to speak and move in a manner they could understand.
With that as a start, she gradually learned the other breeds' communication styles, and has found that despite it taking considerable effort, she is fascinated by other dragons enough that she feels she still comes out ahead. She does, however, retreat to the company of other Fae when she has exhausted her ability to consciously project her intent and emotions in other breeds' styles.
It is unknown if it is solely due to her tea or if other factors were involved, but her once-favorite tea set has become animate, and now actively seeks to provide anyone around it with refreshments. It gets fidgety if it is empty, but she is wary of triggering any further changes, so she makes sure to fill it with only mundane beverages. It is actually very popular around the lair for its timely provision of snacks and beverages.
In addition to socializing with dragons, she has a knack for attracting small animals as well.
While foraging for materials for her alchemy, she ran across a runescar lynx that is larger than she is and masses twice what she does, but that seems to have decided Blazewing is someone to be protected, not attacked. She named him Floofen when it became obvious he would not be easy to uproot from the Haven and was thus a new member. He watches carefully everyone who comes into Blazewing's workroom, usually from a high spot, and is not unlikely to pounce on anyone he feels is crossing the line. The main problem with this is that where "the line" is seems to change randomly, so most people avoid physical contact with Blazewing when he is around.
This corgi wandered in one day, and as she is very good with helping at tea-making, Blazewing decided she can stay and named her Chamomile.
