The sunset is the prettiest part of the day in this town. Tourists all gather up on the highest hill to witness the beautiful array of colors scattered across the sky. Tour guides ask a hefty price to guide dragons to the ‘best spots in town’ and the world seems to almost shut down.

After the sun has set, most tourists head towards their inns, their sleeping place of choice, grabbing something to eat on the way there. They will leave the town in the morning, talking loudly about what a beautiful town this is. The unfortunate ones who stay behind to see what the night has to offer will have an entirely different experience, however. Because when the night gets dark, that’s when Koyo and her team work.

Koyo leads a highly successful group of bandits called The Duskrats, and they specialize in stealing from unsuspecting tourists. Those dragons who visit this town only to see the sun set and then don’t go to bed at a decent hour. Those dragons who think they can have fun at night. They can’t, only Koyo and her rats can.

Tonight is the same. A group of rowdy tourists decide to go bar hopping through the night. Koyo sees them, and immediately marks them as this night’s target. And at every bar that the tourists visit, one of the Duskrats steals something from them. Some treasure, a trinket, a fancy necklace… They don’t even notice that stuff goes missing. At the end of the night, it’s Koyo’s turn. She sees the head of the group, a tall and shiny Imperial, and knows that he is the one to steal from. She offers the group something to drink, she’ll pay for it of course, and while the merry group is drinking, Koyo swiftly goes through the Imperial’s bag.

She wants to find something expensive, something as shiny as the dragon she’s stealing from. However, that isn’t what she finds. Instead, her claws find something that pulses, like it has a heartbeat. She pulls it out of the bag out of pure curiosity, and finds herself holding a dragon egg.
