Dusk is a sensical trade merchant with a yearning both to settle down and adventure. He has issues with anxiety and fears pain, but is at his happiest when trying and experiencing new things.

The padparadscha gemstone aggregate lining his body, while identical in appearance to them, is not a harmonious part of his body caused by genetic factors like in other dragons. It is an incredibly rare magical disease starting from birth where gemstones accumulate and take over the body, forming around tissue in such a way that blood can still flow but cells are eventually rendered incapable of producing enough of the necessary enzymes for living. The aggregate, while lighter than the real gemstone counterpart, is heavy and slowly causes the diseased to become more and more immobile.

Being thrown away into a Spiral family at birth, Dusk did not learn the superiority of Pearlcatcher society, but rather learned of how to navigate even the most eccentric of individuals due to the social and unusual nature of Spirals that did not escape his adoptive family. Dusk still secretly enjoys his fair amount of gossip and clings to his pearl like any other Pearlcatcher, though.

Dusk doesn't tell many about his condition, which is easy enough considering it just looks like the average "opal" gene. He isn't very bothered by it, save for the physical issues. Really, despite his anxieties, despite the weight of those stones, despite the prognosis of an early death - Dusk carries on with his life, trying new things and socializing. His friends are aware of his introverted nature and his struggle to initiate conversation, so they're the ones to push him to "at least try," and... it turns out, he's endearing enough that most dragons simply like him and want to be his friend immediately?

The dragons Dusk tells about his disease are only incredibly close to him or in a similar situation to him. For instance, he has been very good friends with Clefte since before they knew each other's conditions. One day, they both found out and figured that the natures of the conditions were quite similar - albeit for much different reasons - and it became another secret to share between the two that deepened their friendship. Lambshank is another example. While Clefte is too disconcerted by the conjoined pair to interact with them, Dusk is one of the dragons that has been sort of, well, rehabilitating them. Dusk was able to build an understanding between the pair and him because of revealing his condition to them. It gave Lambshank something to think about, so to speak, that Dusk had been given a horrible condition without his wanting it and still lived normally and happily.

Dusk is considered the main exotic trade merchant for the clan. He often goes on trips outside and accidentally builds connections with the strangest dragons, and they end up as trade lines. Nobody knows how he does it, including him. Dusk has trouble with all the socialization, sometimes, but everybody always seems understanding of him, for some reason. He started training birds in his pastime to carry papers along his trade lines instead of having messengers do it, but some of the birds got closer to him and just... watch him or do chores for him, now?
