Biography
Of his early life, Majima had little recollection—or, at least, if he did, he did not talk about it. What most did know about him was this: after refusing to call off an assassination attempt on the patriarch of the Ueno Seiwa clan, (despite being against it in the first place, due to realizing that he and his sworn brother, Taejima would end up imprisioned for it), the male found himself beaten, and in chains. It was there that Majima would lose his eye, courtesy of one of his own acquaintances. Years later, the Skydancer was held captive and tortured for disobeying his superiors, though he was eventually let go. While he wanted to go back to his home in the Cloudscrape Crags, Majima was thrust into the nightlife scene of the Ashfall Wastes, with promises of return if he gained enough profit in gems for his superiors. Despite everything going against him, he was able to pay back the debt, all the while making a name for himself amongst the locals. His superior, Sagwa, however, was not done with him yet; raising the debt to an astronomical price, Majima was given a proposition: stay in his current position or take on a job as a hit-dragon and return to his clan debt free. Reluctantly, the Skydancer took on the assassination mission, given only two days to complete it. In the end, he did not succeed, having found that his target was not a monster as he was told, but rather, a young, female Pearlcatcher suffering from blindness; he spared her life, but in an attempt to get her to safety, Majima found himself captured and tortured for his disobedience. He was only spared from death due to his knowledge of where the Pearlcatcher, Makoto had been previously. Later, he found out that he was only a pawn, having been manipulated to land his superiors in a state of power over the Dojima Clan, which crushed him. After killing those involved and insuring Makoto’s safety, Majima returned to the Wastes, setting his sights on the clan, Sgail Lasair as his new home. There, he would finally meet a dragon he had heard much of, one that would change his life forever, an Imperial by the name of Kiryu. Almost immediately, Majima developed a sort of reverent devotion to Kiryu, perhaps fueled on by his jealousy over the other’s lifestyle as far as females were concerned. Not only that, but, after a fight with him, the Skydancer swore that he was the only one that should kill Kiryu, squaring off against any who dared try anything. To this day, their odd “rivalry-friendship” runs deep, and most of their clan mates are of the mind that another sort of tension is trapped in the air between them… |
