"So you have somehow learned that I was once the leader of this clan?"
The brightly blue tinted guardian's throat shook with an almost silent laugh, "Most of my brethren here have already forgotten. I have relinquished that title what seems an age ago.
"I...I honestly couldn't tell you where he came from, if I were honest. There was a strange noise in the night and the air resonated with energies that had my scale shuddering. Naturally left to investigate. It wasn't long before I found myself in the company dragons I did not recognize. A glowing beauty-" Lynx interrupts himself with a cough and quietly whispers to himself, "Perhaps I shouldn't have...no, Xha'thal is a kind and patient dragon at heart, I doubt he'd consider it an offense."
After shaking himself quietly he raised his voice to a more audible level, "Now, as I was about to say, I found myself in the company of several dragons I did not recognize. A glowing female illuminated a dark corner just enough to catch a glimpse of the others. If I were to be honest, if it weren't for her I would not have been able to catch even a silhouette of her mate. You must have seen him by now, his scale is darker than a pool of oil.
"The dragons he brought were somehow stranger. A sleek white dragon without even a pair of horns, another that glows not unlike the fungi of the forest, and a third that- I am not even sure if he was there at all.
"The three that caught my eye were only half of those that followed the black and his mate. Yet the rest were no less odd to me. These weren't the kind of dragons I was used to. They are not Guardians, not Imperials or Snappers- they are large, strong dragons of course but apart from that I do not know what they are.
"The black, Xha'thal, was the first to speak. His eyes still somehow managed to shake me. They were completely black. His iris was a mesmerizing collection of stars on an inky black orb. If I did not see him move before me, I'd have thought that he were a statue of pure onyx.
"Initially I was furious. A group of, possibly hostile, dragons had somehow encroached on our territory. I was about to snarl a threat and give a roaring call to my warriors when Xha'thal gave me a look that shut my throat tight. In that instant, I saw an incredibly ancient beast behind his gaze. An ancient and incredibly powerful dragon that I immediately feared could tear half my clan to shreds on his own. To call my clanmates upon him and his company would be a call of death.
"He introduced himself as an aged traveler that was looking to explore. He asked me of any lands in my memory that still lie unclaimed by dragon or creature so that his company could have a temporary home as he familiarized himself of the surrounding lands. I can still see the sudden surprise that flashed over his eyes when I invited him into my clan for a time. They all fascinated me, and the best place to investigate them is directly in plain sight, is it not?

Seeing his signature touch of wisdom, I soon invited him to lead. My late Yuna has been gone from my life for many years. If I were to be honest, a part of my drive died with her. He would make a far more capable leader than I would in this state.
