~~~~ Reverie's job is an incredibly important one, and likely the most difficult of the clan. Formally an apprentice, she was thrown into the position of head of finances after her mentor left, which left her scrambling to keep everything afloat. ~~~~She's responsible for keeping track of the budget, which means making sure all the divisions have proper funding, all dragons with roles are being fairly compensated, and ABSOLUTELY NO SHADY BUSINESS is happening on her watch. Any monetary requests go straight to her desk, and she spends hours balancing the books and crunching numbers to make sure everything’s ready in the reports at the monthly debriefs. She’s frazzled, but she still manages to do her job extremely well. |
~~~~
~~~~The finance division is in charge of the clan’s wealth. This division tracks revenue, profit, expenses, manages the payroll, allocates funding to the other divisions, approves major spending requests, watches the market value of the clan’s assets, and balances the ratio of gems to treasure in the vault.
~~~~
- Salary & Clan Expenses:
~~~~All working members of the clan are paid a salary for their contribution. Salary rates are determined by a), importance of role to greater clan function and b), skill required to perform the role.
~~~~All clan-related expenses facilitated by an individual (e.g., a weaver’s purchase of new thread to create a tapestry for a public space within the lair) would be written off as a business expense and the individual would be reimbursed. Business expenses, as such, are not included in determining a salary for a given role.
~~~~Since food and lodging are provided by the clan, they are not factored into a dragon’s salary. If a dragon’s role requires traveling and they do not wish to hunt/gather and/or sleep on the road, that would fall under business expenses and would be covered by the clan.
~~~~ - Exalts & Trainees:
~~~~Dragons in training to be exalted receive an allowance for their contribution. Since all of their living expenses are covered by the clan, the allowance is relatively small, but enough to cover a few treats on a day off.
~~~~It is considered traditional to leave most or all possessions to the clan that provided training as a gesture of good faith and as a symbol of beginning anew under service to the deity, meaning that the clan makes a small profit from each dragon that is trained and then exalted.
~~~~ - Misc. Micro-Holidays:
~~~~Mostly it’s just themed decorations. These are more acknowledged than celebrated.
~~~~ - Clan-Specific Events:
~~~~Clan Anniversary- The day on which the clan was founded. The council and co-leaders present a list of all the clan’s accomplishments that year, any major changes, and any promotions or notable achievements that a dragon may have received. The presentation is followed by an elaborate feast, music, etc.
~~~~
~~~~Exaltation- When it's time for the trainees to be exalted, they are thrown a going-away party the night before, and the next morning are provided with supplies for the journey to the Pillar of the World, which is lead by the current guide.
~~~~
~~~~Coronation- A coronation is only celebrated when a new co-leader rises to power. Usually power is passed down to two new co-leaders at once, but there have been exceptions. Speeches are given, both by the retiring co-leader(s) and by those taking the crown.

Notes:
~~~~Birthdays, relationship anniversaries, promotions, and so on are not clan-wide celebrations.
~~~~Because of Dragonhome’s climate, food can be hard to come by for newly established clans who don’t know where to look or who have a lot of mouths to feed. Feasts were a hallmark of a successful clan, so as Feldspar became more developed, they became an essential part of celebrations, and a tradition that has lingered to this day.
~~~~The traditions division is the least organized and most poorly managed of the five. The librarians and archivists tend to just do their own thing, and whispers have been stirring that either Solace or Tangerine would make for a better head of traditions.
