Biography
The water was clouded with red, a gentle ripple amongst it suggested some presence lurked somewhere obscured within the immense tank. Alongside the cluster of medical wagons there it was, towering glass walls secured to a rickety old base of wheels that gave a concerning creak whenever the internal movement momentarily produced anything more than the slightest wavelet. Messily written in some unknown reddish-brown substance upon the glass, long-dried drips hung beneath the letters “The Big Fish”.
The chassis and wheels whined louder then as a sign of life flashed past. A body long and serpentine, scales cracked and chapped in a roughly harlequin pattern, an unpleasant combination of scab-like crust and seeping moist, trailing red behind it to deepen the colour of the foul water. Tattered and skeletal fins briefly graced against the wall of the tank, before the creature once again disappeared into the murk of its own seepage.
“This is my fish.” Montserrat proudly explained. “Have you ever seen such a fish in your life? I’m afraid this dear fish as I found, had spent much too long out in the sunshine, flapping about in the dirt like a cut tail! Lucky fish, found by the greatest plastic surgeon in all of northern Dragonhome, indeed I wet the fish again but the poor scales have not quite yet recovered! No matter, the fish is a work in progress, and all know I’ll fix this unfortunate body up in due time. Practice triumphs all, don’t you know!”
