A loping gait kicks up dust. A hurried gallop follows. The white-hot awareness of the rising sun spurs the two dragons on.

Dantris curves left, a glance back at Mimo assuring him that his brother has spotted the same mud hole. The pair slows to a trot - Mimo's tail whipping as he approaches. "We can't afford to wallow."

Such an attitude for one so small.

Dantris pauses before the puddle. "Gotta re-apply." He's uncomfortably aware that their masks are starting to crack and flake off.

Mimo huffs, but slinks forward. He dunks his head in the gritty, sandy water - and with a violent twist and shake, the caked layers slough off of his pale face.

Packs tossed aside, they hurriedly roll in the mud, smearing it over their entire form. They shake off the excess and drink sparingly of their waterskins, intent on pushing forward.
