╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮

When Yuti hatched out, he seemed for all the world, like any other dragonling. But his mother saw in him something of herself in him— a fragmented soul. His parents watched him with fearful eyes, loving and worried, but the seizures that had plagued Layali never gripped him. He would, instead, fall nearly trance-like at times, gazing upon a world his family could not see. As a child, it was vivid, so much so that he would sometimes cry for the things he saw. But he never could explain what it was; as soon as he came down to earth, the things he had seen and experienced were, in dreamlike fashion, impossible to recall.

What did linger from them, though, was a calling. His mother and father likened it to the Search they had both undertaken, not knowing how better to classify it, and Yuti, young, eagerly agreed it must be that. He was looking for something, searching for it. And as soon as he was old enough, he set out.

He was no aimless wanderer, though. Yuti was well prepared for travel, having learned both from the Clan he was raised in, and from an older Wind dragon he eventually apprenticed under for a time. Yuti learned storytelling, the art of preserving history in the form of legend. Each storyteller would have their own flair, his mentor used to tell him, and Yuti eventually took up shadow puppets to accentuate his own tales.

The painstaking act of creating them, their delicate moving parts, and the delight on the faces of children and adults alike when he brought them out cemented them as his flair. Or, so he liked to think— If you asked anyone, though, they would say his style was more than that. A certain reverence and softness of voice, a secretive smile, a story told not for an audience but for each individual audience member. That, his mentor would also say, was his flair.

From Wind to Light and beyond, Yuti spread their tales, still ever searching for what they were missing. The episodes they still experienced grew infrequent as they aged, but still lingered, fuel for stories in the things they left behind, vague feelings and impressions that were hard to put into words, but a delightful bit of flavor when held close during a retelling.

And, eventually, Yuti found them. It was a pure thing of happenstance, a moment that could have gone terribly wrong if Yuti had not been there to step in— and like that, in the feeling they had looking down on Hero, feeling that protectiveness settle over them the way their parents had always talked about, Yuti felt their Search had ended. Hieronymus was to be their charge.

Rather than outright state it though, Yuti simply settled in as a traveling companion, for the moment. It was rather embarassing, to go out and confess just like that— right? Well, he thought so, and wasn't able to manage it. Even as time wore on, the three of them hunting high an low for something Zyred struggled to adequately explain and Hero would not elucidate on, Yuti kept it to himself.

It was a cold march through a frozen wasteland before they even began to consider it seriously, and by then... Something held them back. Surely the right time would present itself. And when it did, then they would confess.

» Oral storyteller and history keeper in the Windsinger's name; something of an evangelist.

» The reason behind their incomplete existence remains a mystery to them, whether or not their parents have an inkling.

» Very softspoken and never seems to get angry...?

His boundless naivete breeds a sort of fond protectiveness... No, that's just the chargebind talking.

ZYRED
Friend
They're strange, but not in a bad way. Like an odd bird, or some kind of curious bug.
