Biography
Oren Kawaguchi
The Hunted
-He/him, Questioning
-Born originally in the Sundial Terrace, his family moved to the Starwood Strand when he was too young to ever remember having lived anywhere else. Despite how busy the town can get at times, it still does happen to be a little isolated where it is. Everyone who comes there is only ever there temporarily, no one who leaves Starwood ever looks back, as they say. It's old fashioned, it's a scrapheap, it's a dead end, and only the rich folks in their little gentrified suburbs are blind to it. Oren is well aware of how much of a heap this town really is, though. He grew up there with his parents and his twin sister, Katarina (both named local names rather than their fathers home tongue), originally in a relatively nicer part of town before his parents split and could only afford somewhere in the rougher end of things. But his childhood was relatively steady and nice, regardless. A bit distorted by the lens of nostalgia, but he always had friends and a stable home to come back to at the end of the day, always had decent grades at a good school (though there was really only one) and nice clothes on his back. The problems came when he transitioned. His friends had only really hung out with him because him and his sister had been a package deal when they'd still been identical. His sister took his change as a loss, having only ever known being part of that package. And when it became clear to the rest of his schoolmates that his transition wasn't just a phase, he became even more out-casted than he already was. He became a target. No one wants to be close to a target, lest they end up in the firing line. Being different in high-school, in a small town where only money can buy you an out, some would say that's asking for it. And now... Oren spends his days more-or-less alone, wandering the town with his skateboard looking for things to do and chances at a bit of extra money without attracting trouble. He's more or less accepted the fact he's never going to graduate, and only strives to survive to the end of this year. Whatever the future brings..... he doesn't care anymore. He just wants to get there in the first place, and avoid everyone who wants to stop him from achieving that.
-Oren is something of a contradiction, at times. It IS in fact possible to be both extremely careless and impulsive, as well as very careful and thought-out, because Oren is proof of this. Oh yeah sure, he'll ride his skateboard off the roof of your house if you dare him to, entirely to see if he CAN do it. He will put random weird gross things in his mouth, just to see what happens, and boy howdy is he not above any opportunity to steal a little something from anyone he deems an acceptable target. He is down for making trouble, and has the loud, obnoxiousness to go along with his antics. He's a cringe teen delinquent. However... Oren also has the daily schedules of his bullies memorized, so that he's able to stay out of their way best he can. He DID have good grades, when he still attended school instead of skipping. He knows absolutely every short-cut and backroad in town, he can give you the quickest and safest directions to pretty much anywhere you might need to get. He's incredibly attentive when it comes to tone and body language from other people, he always knows when to stop bothering someone, always knows when the vibes are off. That's all to say - he has an incredibly easy time retaining information and reapplying it. Little dude is awesome at puzzles. He might not be amazing at something creative like English or Art (he couldn't even name himself he had to ask his parents), but Maths? Tech? Science? He's got it. Too bad he only uses his amazing memory and problem solving for figuring out the best method of stealing the treasure out your wallet. Don't let this make you think he's a laid back not-an-idiot-idiot, however. His situation.... it's difficult. The skills he has were developed out of fear. They are maintained out of fear. His entire outlook on his current life is filtered through a haze of fear and depression. Oren needs help before something horrible happens to him, but he knows he can't ask for it. So why not just.... do whatever, yknow? Why bother caring. Why bother......
-Not Partnered, he's never considered it because.... who would be interested in him? What's the point.
