Biography

On July 11th, 2022 NASA released the first photo taken by the James Webb Space Telescope. It is the deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe taken to date.

This image of the SMACS 0723 galaxy cluster, contains thousands of galaxies. this image covers a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground on Earth.

The James Webb Space Telescope! I just recently went to a space museum and while I was there, I saw a documentary about the creation of the JWST and the first images that came from it. I love the idea of a fan dragon for that iconic first image! The fire aura is just perfect to represent those swirling galaxies. The scry looks amazing too!

Honestly kind of funny how this thing has been consistently crushing our hopes of finding a habitable exoplanet. TRAPPIST-1e's atmosphere actively getting stripped by its volatile sun, K2-18b potentially just being a bog-standard gas giant, it's genuinely hilarious. That said, it's also genuinely amazing how deep it can look into time, and its discoveries about early stars and galaxies have been revolutionary—dark matter stars potentially getting elevated out of theory and into reality is the wildest and coolest one to me, personally.
