xxxxxxxxxxxxxx It's said that the desolate lands that surround the shattered shrine are the claim of twin spirits. Nobody knows when they first appeared- perhaps they were drawn here from the shrine's downfall. Perhaps they were gods whose hearts were warped by curses beyond saving. But the sightings have persisted against decades, and still they haunt the dead forest eternally, searching for their next meal.

Their arrival is heralded by a flock of crows. Scavengers, feasting on the decay in the wake of the two beasts. Wherever their claws touch, the grass withers and shrinks back, dead. The trees blacken and blight, as if struck by lightning or touched by fire. Long-buried bones are unearthed beneath their bodies- picked clean by centipedes.

They roar in frustration- a sound that echoes for miles around with no answering cry.

There is no food to be foraged. Not anymore.
