Daphne is the clan’s treasurer. She’s a close advisor to the clan leader Dissection, and is therefore pretty involved in the goings on of the clan. One of her many tasks is keeping track of expenses and income, as well as doing rough note taking before giving it over to Martin, the clan’s scribe, or Jon, the Archivist, when the notes are complete. Through the work they’ve been doing, Daphne has found something of a friend in Dissection. She trusts his judgement most of the time, and knows that he considers her trustworthy in return, something she greatly appreciates.

Past

Grew up with strict parents that knew she’d have to further the family line. Despite being wind in origin they had settled in earth due to the possibilities of trade and gems.
Extremely rich and had a very influential parents. They wanted her to continue with that and so tutors taught her math, economics, leadership and she had some private lessons on manipulation with her mother
Her parents wanted her to mate with someone influential, but she managed to avoid it mostly by being extremely rude and unagreeable whenever meeting with potential suitors.
During her childhood and upbringing she was raised alongside Theo, Pansy, and Deimos, who all had likeminded parents.
There was a rumor that her parents were in talks with Deimos parents, since he much like Daphne kept scaring away potential mates. The two were very good friends, and therefore against the match. Besides, Daphne was silently interested in theo, but also knew that Pansy shared that particular sentiment and so chose not to act on it.
Despite all of this, Daphne was content. She had what she needed, and despite her parents pushiness she knew they cared for her, and with their money they needed for nothing.
Reaching her teens she slowly but surely started taking over and caring for the family’s treasure due to her interest in math and economics.
Theo, Deimos, and Pansy were often talking about leaving and striking out on their own, leaving the family expectations behind. Daphne usually stayed silent during the discussions. As previously mentioned she didn’t mind it, but she understood why the others felt the need to leave (see Theo, Deimos, and Pansy for backstory), and in some corner of her mind she also knew she wouldn’t be able to stay behind if they left, no matter how much she wanted to.
One night they were supposed to all meet at a secret cavern the four of them had declared their own, when Theo and Deimos were late. Pansy and daphne at first took this opportunity to gossip alone, but soon nightfall neared and they got worried. As night fell they were uneasy and pacing, when in burst a bloody Theo leaning on a dishevelled looking Deimos.
Pansy and Daphne rushed to help Theo, and found him badly wounded, barely conscious. Due to the layout of the large clan, Theo and Deimos lived close together and would often make the trek together to the meeting place. When Deimos had gone to meet Theo and found him missing, he’d gone to their dwelling only to hear raised voices. Deimos explained, with barely contained fury, that Theo had gotten into an argument with his much larger father and the two had come to blows. Despite prodding from Daphne Deimos didn’t disclose anything further, letting the two female mirrors know that it was up to Theo if he wanted to tell them what the argument was about. He did stress that he would be facing a similar argument at his home, and that the two would be unable to stay in the clan. They would have to leave tonight.
Pansy readily agreed to join them, no hesitation. Daphne noted the worried and devoted look Pansy sent Theo, and realised that all of her friends were leaving. Theoretically Daphne could stay. She hesitated, and was about to say so when theo, in his sleep, managed to wheeze out one name; Daphne.
The choice having been made for her due to this exclamation Pansy and Daphne put their two clever heads together and devised a plan. No one else knew about their hideout, but if Daphne and Pansy didn’t leave immediately they would be thoroughly questioned, and might be actually unable to leave. They did need provisions, and money.
The two left Theo and Deimos in the cavern, sneaked to their respective homes, and stole from their families. Daphne withdrew an enormous sum of money, made a note in the ledger, wrote another quick note of love to her parents, and then left under the cover of night with money enough to get them wherever they wanted, clothing, and provisions. Together Pansy and daphne made their way back to the hideout, and together the four of them left for greener pastures.
Being close to the edge where dragonhome met the scarred wasteland, they decided to travel across to the tangled woods, seeing as bringing a wounded dragon across the wasteland could prove fatal. Deimos had told them that he had some very, very, very distant family in the southern icefields, and so they made that their target. The plan was to travel through the tangled woods, through the sea of a thousand currents, and then to the windswept plateau. They argued if it would be better to attempt to cross the uncharted sea, or if they should go through the starfall isles, but as it happened it didn’t matter.
Theo gradually got better as they went through the woods, so they strayed closer and closer to the scarred wasteland as the risk of infection went down. As they neared the edge, they also neared the wasteland, and so it was how they found themselves at the clan of rot.
Since they’d been on the move for almost a month at that point they decided to see if they could find temporary housing, and or just stay for a while. Daphne took it upon herself to organise this, and spoke at length with the clan leader Dissection, who with the help of the warrior first in command (Agrius) and the mechanic (Darkforge) actually managed to get them settled into two separate dwellings at the edge, with Pansy and Daphne rooming in one of them, and Deimos and Theo occupying the other.
The temporary setting gradually bled into something permanent, what with Deimos clashing and aggressively falling in love with the pretty alchemist Hemithea, and Pansy charming the pants of most of the clan with her beautiful garments, including but not limited to Atreide. Daphne herself had helped Martin with some of his scribe duties, and as he noted her quickness with math she was re-introduced to Dissection. He was very suspicious at first, and for a long time he re-checked everything she did, much to her annoyance. The suspicion faded relatively quickly due to her competence (and in part due to some slight emotional manipulation), and it was how she became his most trusted advisor, and responsible for the clans treasury.
