Coral is the captain of Zilikia's guard, and takes her role very seriously.

Coral was found as a hatchling in a coral reef outside of the town of Zilikia and was taken back to the town for safety from a coming storm. Although the dragons of Zilikia searched for this hatchling's family, they were forced to accept that none were to be found after a few weeks with not a hint nor rumour to guide them. A guardian volunteered to care for the young dragon. She had been called 'the coral obelisk' by the townsfolk, so he gave her the name Coral.

Coral was an ever curious child, and loved to learn but hated trying to make sense of written word. She worked with every dragon she could in order to understand what they did as well as how and why they did it the way they did.

One day she approached the town's captain of the guard, in the hopes of learning a new craft's basics. The captain was skeptical of Coral's ability to guard the town, she was still a hatchling after all, but she gave Coral a quick tour of the town from a guard's point of view. For Coral that was all it took. From then on Coral devoted herself to being a guard: she began wearing armour, and to get used to the weight she almost never did anything without it; she took up spearfishing to improve her speed and reflex; and she joined the guard's training drills whenever she was allowed.

Coral's training and simple stubbornness eventually paid off when she was a young adult. The captain allowed her to join Zilikia's town guard, the youngest guard Zilikia had ever had. Despite achieving her dream, Coral did not slow down in her training. She added more weight to the armour and weapons that she trained with, and she never gave herself a day off from her exercises.
