Biography
Dragons with faceted eyes have two major outcomes with their vision. One is that they are completely blind, and the other is that they see too much.
_____ |
Queen ___"Take care for your happiness... They can vanish with a conversation." |
Queenly Demise |
Queen. What a ridiculous name, and yet it was hers and so she must come and go at its use. She certainly didn't feel like a queen. Half-blind by her excessive eyesight, and only intelligent when spoken too. The dragon that forgets to close the door to the latrines is no genius! Still, as she tells herself, I must be grateful for my gift of phrasing. Its the only reason half the dragons around give me as much respect as they do. A respect I don't deserve, but still appreciate. And then there was Inkheart... Dragons you can confide in are few and far between, she knew. Inkheart was her confidant, her mate, and the moon she admired from the lowly earth. Which was strange, seeing as he did not have much of a personality or a worth beyond what she felt for him, some distant part of her mind knew. But it was simple. She was his, he was hers, and the two never shall part. A happy ending. For a while, life is simple. There are hatchlings, and sweet mornings turn to joyful evenings. But there always has to be an ending, always has to come a ravaging of some sort, and Queen knew this even without the benefit of experience. So it was with dread she received a visitor into her home, someone who forced Queen to recognize the lie she and her beloved moon lived. Inkheart had no consciousness. He had no true affections for her. He lived like a image of himself, depending on her for every little thing, and would never reciprocate all her love for him. Heartbroken, devastated. Words to describe the depths of sorrow that still do it no justice. When food tasted as ash, when the wind brought frustration in its whirling, when the scents she once placed around her home stopped smelling as sweet, and all was numbness and death, Queen became the second member of an organization designed to fight against the Author of their world. |
