______ Eridanus is a practiced fortune-teller, though that label vastly understates what he can do. Fortune-telling, scrying the past, present, and future (which is, incidentally, how he got brought into the know regarding Trailblazer), accurately predicting the weather; if it requires a crystal ball - or even if it doesn't - he can do it.

______ Vaguely, Eridanus can recall that that wasn't always his name - nor was the Thornspeaker clan always his home. But those first memories are hazy, and mostly, what he does remember is sweltering heat and pervasive sickness. It adds up, as he'd been found delirious and near-death with fever when his adopted father, Tairin, found him. He'd barely been a day old, so it wasn't surprising he barely remembered anything - not even his own name. Tairin had been the one to give him the name Eridanus, after the river constellation, as well as a second chance at life. For if the whispers hadn't led Tairin to him that day, Eridanus would be dead.

______ The Imperial likes the peace of twilight, when everyone is bedding down for the night and the firstTstars are just starting to peek through the dusky sky. Stars are important to him, and not just because of his name - many of his predictions and fortunes involve the positioning of the stars and planets. And tea leaves. Which is unfortunate for him, as Eridanus can't stand the drink and hates wasting food. What he can't pawn off on his clanmates he has no choice but to dump. He's tried choking it down before to avoid the waste; he just can't drink it at all, he hates it that much.

______ Eridanus and Lahela have only recently become mates, and have absolutely zero parenting experience. While they're both nervous about how their first clutch is going to turn out when they're ready to lay, they're determined to be there for their children. They won't be perfect, no parent can ever be, but by the Eleven Gods, they'll try their hardest.

______ His best friend is Firelight, and the pair often get into friendly banter over tea and tea leaves, with Firelight jokingly calling him a heathen for his tastes - or rather, lack of, in the Skydancer's opinion. Still, he's more than happy to supply the tea and tea leaves Eridanus needs for his job. Sure, some of it will go to waste as a drink, but the tea itself won't be wasted. It's being used, after all - just not in a way Firelight had ever really considered before.
