Let me tell you a tale, of a clan hidden in darkness where only the mushrooms glow...

She appeared one day, like a star suddenly appearing for the first time in the night sky. Just another twinkle against the darkness, just another dragon in Leylight. Tourists weren’t uncommon, but she was different. She didn’t come to see the spirits dance with the Southern Lights. She came with a story to tell–one she shouldn’t have known.

She told of a guardian and fae born in plague, who struggled against the impossible odds of surviving in a world they just weren’t meant to fit. She told of a scraggly band of survivors that huddled around them, like they were a warm hearth in the harshest winter. And then she told of a dragon of shadow who came to the clan, as beautiful as the night, and with an air about her that held certainty and promise.

The story changed then, to a clan growing in the brambles. Of wolves of smoke and umbra. It told of skirmishes, betrayal, war. She told of Clan Nocturne, of Lunnox’s heritage, in a way none of them had ever heard before.

When asked how she knew such a tale, Reign merely smiled, her face half hidden by her cloak. “It is a tale one hears a lot, when you wander in the darkest woods.”

The good stories were worth remembering and she had plenty of them. And so she stayed, taking up Leylight’s library as her own. Carefully tending to the books and adding more to the shelves with every new one she could find.

In the end, she came for the library, but she stayed for the stories.
