Biography
~Valentine, the Homecoming~
None among the dual clans of Seckendorff and Glückskatze recall the day the Diaspora began. The historians propose that it was the reawakening of an ancient evil. The warriors move that it was an act of vengeance by the humiliated Shade. The mages theorise that it was a freak accident, brought on by magic seeping into the unstable atmosphere of the lair. The devout believe that it was an offended deity turning their back on the clans.
What is known is this: soon after the eighth Flameforger's Festival, a darkness fell upon the lair. A powerful force made itself known, hell-bent on the destuction of the clans. They fought back, with all they could muster, but were crushed beneath its might.
It was not the end of the clans. They scattered to the corners of Sornieth, wounded and in despair, each small group unsure whether they were the sole survivors. Some took up residence in other clans, some found lairs and attempted to form their own clanlets, and some simply wandered the lands.
All attempted to return to their clan's home at some point, but were met with failure. The empty, echoing lair was occupied by something malevolent, something that chased away any attempt to retake it.
This could have been the destruction of the clans, but they were strong-willed. The attempts to return led to a few groups finding each other, and reconnecting. Slowly, over time, the remnants bound together again.
In their flight, they had made new alliances. They scouted and studied, and eventually, they found a way to drive out the entity. Quests were undertaken, materials were gathered, rituals were uncovered and performed, until at last, they created something. A being that, with them gathered behind it, could face the entity, and restore the clans. A new deity.
He took the form of a young Fae, with a hide the pink of a heart and the winds that had carried the clans in his eyes. They named him Valentine, and the day after the completion of the rituals, the lair was retaken. He was enshrined with the Minor Deities, and given a yearly holiday in his honour, celebrating the bond of the clans. The day of his victory - Valentine's Day.
Valentine is the deity of Unity, representing the unbreakable bonds between dragons. His symbols are lovebirds, swans, the wind, and implements of hospitality.
