It's thought that The Beast was the first dragon ever created, and that Clara was the second, but this is not true.

Tempest was created in the currents, the bits of water just close enough to the sun to absorb its heat... and its magic. Where The Beast sought to craft his domain on land, Tempest found a way to create hers within the oceans. Upon finding herself in the sea, eyes blinking open for the first time, Tempest let loose a burst of magic. This burst did two things. The first, ripping her wings from her back and prompting the ocean waves to replace them. The second, turning those broken appendages into two new dragons of her own design.

This was the beginning of Algae and Trench. Her two kin: one, an outline of nature, and the other a taste of the depths.

The Beast died after creating his new dragons, though he made many more than Tempest, and where he did not care about his future among the stars, Tempest couldn't bring herself to abandon her pod, so she stayed. Conserving her magic, she banished herself to a life of simplicity, ensuring that the only great feats she would suffer were for the safety of her pod.

She will, eventually, have to face the stars, but that time will only come in a distant future.
