NPC (For breeding purposes only)
Originating from Lanternlea in the Sunbeam Ruins Diaemus, then known by a different name, longed for something more. First it was knowledge, delving into old books and tomes and studying tablets and other historical objects. Then it was companionship, so he befriended a rather dejected Wildclaw with whom he began a firm friendship. Then came a desire to lead after learning this Wildclaw was directionless and needed someone to guide him. All combined he found a desire to begin a new clan together with his companion. Within the books he'd read Diaemus learned of various abandoned ruins and buildings from past Ages. In particular was a large stone keep, sat upon a hill overlooking the Aergate in the Windswept Plateau. So the pair made the journey and investigated. It was the ancient, magical structure that now caught his interest, having been inactive for centuries. This keep would do nicely as the foundations for the new clan, though his Wildclaw partner was less sure and suggested somewhere more peaceful. But Diaemus' mind was set and so Squallwatch came to be. As the clan grew he still held great interest in reading and studied many works of literature when he found the time. One room was soon designated as a grand library while he kept those he took most liking to in his own personal chamber. So many books and tomes and scrolls passed his claws. And then he found something that would change him. Something that would instil fear in other dragons. A note at first, hastily scribbled. Nonsense to anyone else, a breadcrumb for him. It led to another tome, and yet others beyond that. So fascinated he was that his companion was forced to bring food to him as he studied, their time together slipping away. Eventually it became less a friendship and more a master/servant relationship. Diaemus didn't care; he was too enthralled in his findings. Dark findings. His mind began to twist, the desire to rule over more than his clan grew. But there was no way he could manage such a feat... unless he were able to reset the world to his own liking. He would, with his tireless research, invoke the Shade to do his bidding. Of course, precautions were needed. Secretly he would leave Squallwatch to meet with likeminded individuals. Among them the dragon who had left the scrap that started it all. Two runaways from a Fire clan who had come to resent the world they were born into. None of them knew what to expect yet believed solidly that the spells they'd cast would protect them. Spells that would mark their pacts, reddening their eyes very much unlike those natural to the Plague flight. They intended to call the Shade to consume the known Sornieth, withstand it with the protection spells and start a new reality in which he would be ruler. But how to do it without drawing attention? Did they even know how to control it? Diaemus had an idea. The dungeons below the keep would make excellent testing grounds to see exactly how it worked, how to protect themselves from it fully, how to manipulate it. And then he would find a way to activate the Aergate and set the Shade free into the atmosphere with its powerful magic. Years of plotting later and adopting his new name Diaemus' interests in the Aergate were rewarded; the Twisting Crescendo had ceased. No wind meant no Wind flight. No Wind activities or events. He was the one to put forward the idea to revive the ancient rings. It was agreed fully. His plan was set in motion. He now needed only to control the Shade absolutely and his own reality would be realised. No matter what was left behind. |
