HISTORY
"Hark! Yet another creature is born of the loins of the ancient horrorwyrm!"These are the words that welcomed Kindra into the world, a screeching and roiling bogsneak, already with a taste for the plague-filled horrors of Sornieth. Constantly desperate to win the pride of her very busy parent, Kindra pushed the limits of tolerance of his native clan. She decorated his wings with skeletal remains, cultivated rot under her own scales, and reveled in the stench of the world's nastiest places. But there remained a morbid curiosity about the rest of the world. What were dragons like, where the air was clear and crisp, where the brooks babbled blue, where the dragons wrinkled their noses at Kindra and his like? And so, Kindra chose to leave home and wander. He began her journey in order to find Something to impress his parent, but nothing seemed good enough, so the pilgrimage continued, untethered from a clan, and lost in the unknown. This was a time of strangeness for our young ambassador; dizzied by the beams of the Sunbeam Ruins, tumbling through the storms of the Shifting Expanse, beaten, burned and bloodied by all the realms of the world. After a time, Kindra's mind seemed to leave her. The natural fever of his plague-ridden body overran her consciousness, leaving a lurking, oozing, mindless shadow behind. Kindra was found, many years after his last remembered date, crawling out of the muck of the Driftwood Drag, washing up along the bank of Singer's Brook. Kindra finally found some sympathy in the Haven, in the form of the recently transformed aberration, Atria. Atria recognized the symptoms of a natural-born illness run unchecked, and braved Kindra's frantic and feverish state to take care of the weak bogsneak. After much time, with many trials and relapses, Kindra was not 'cured,' but returned to consciousness. Over time, she revealed his story and foolishness to her caretakers; Atria and Diego, who assisted by casting calming abjuration charms and simple healing. Once at full strength, he at first said her goodbyes and began to make the long trek home. But nothing was left for him there. Her family had moved on; many more hatchlings had been born, with more promise and dedication than he, and no one had even known she was missing in the hustle and bustle. Kindra was shocked, but that depression quickly turned to anger, and he said no goodbyes when returning to the Haven. Although now a member of a Wind clan, Kindra wanted to retain ties to the Plaguebringer, so she consulted with the clan overseers. They said they had been planning to seek out ambassadors from each of the other flights already, so Kindra could be the 'pilot' of this new program. Overjoyed, Kindra has taken his role very seriously, endeavoring to be the absolute paragon of Plague Ambassadors. Despite the occasional hot-headedness, Kindra fits in well with the other dragons of the Haven, as a playful and fundamentally kind dragon with a lot of healing still to do. |
