If the custom was omitted or forgotten and the bees were not "put into mourning" then it was believed a penalty would be paid, such as the bees leaving their hive, stopping the production of honey, or dying."

Bee loves his bees. He cares for them, spoils them, and cherishes their company. They are like family to him. As such, he has taken up the hobby of gardening, making as magnificent a garden as he can for his darling bee companions. Though hard to believe, the bees do love and cherish him back.
