THE MAD
Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a young, bright and curious dragoness who left her clan in search of wonder. Wandering upon the earth, she suddenly chanced upon an ominous dark forest. Unable to resist, she walked through the forest entrance. As she wandered under the withered branches of the forest, she felt herself sinking further and further into darkness. As she continued walking, she heard a faint whisper. The whispers were too faint to hear, but the young dragoness grew curious, and walked forward. As her feet stepped forward, the whispers grew, and she heard their words. Riddles, mind wrenching, twisting, strange riddles seeped into her head. They grew louder and louder, and she felt her grip on reality loosen. She was scared, but her feet no longer listened to her. When she finally managed to convince her body to listen, she escaped the forest, however, the whispers were stuck in her head. She thought herself mad, as she returned to her clan. However, they too heard the insane mumblings of the forests whispers. They banished the young dragoness, never to return, and she was left all on her own, with the whispers following close behind. The people named her Riddlegard, keeper of the whispers, and she spent many years wandering upon the world, with no end in sight, when one day, the whispers disappeared. Left alone with the silence she had not heard for eons, the dragoness, now older, finally went mad. She searched and searched, but to no avail, the whispers had dissappeared from her life, just as sudden as they had appeared. The painful silence was too much, and just as she was to end it all, she met him. A tiny, amber fae. Barely the size of her claw, showed up in front of her. He told her all manner of stories from around the world, he made her laugh and cry. She had, for the first time in hundreds of years, yearned to do something, to see the world the small fae spoke of. He asked her to spend the rest of their lives with him, and she agreed. The clan was named the Riddleseekers, and they search for the mysteries of the world, picking up lost souls along the way. Finally, she found solace. |
