The cheerful heir of a busy vineyard, Dominic has every reason to believe he'll have a happy life. He learns the skills needed to manage the land and its workers quickly, and he's well-liked by his family and staff. He's been courting one of the cafe owners that his family sells juice to, and she seems receptive to his advances- until she suddenly falls ill.

Not willing to give up on her, Dominic does everything in his power to have her healed. He sends to her by courier a variety of medicines, each one more esoteric than the last. He hires healers from around the world to go to her side, sliding into some debt to do so. In the end, nothing works. She passes away, and busy with his family's business, Dominic cannot even be by her side.

But this is not the end of their story. Greatly moved by his love, Eurydice lingers on in the world, eventually finding her way back to Dominic's side. Ecstatic to see his mate once more, Dominic doesn't mind her ghostly form in the slightest. The same cannot be said for his family, or his employees. Their affection for him already strained by his growing debt, being haunted is the last straw. He is cut loose from the family inheritance and cast out of their lair.

But to Dominic, this is a small price to pay to be by his lover's side. Together, they travel from place to place, finding enjoyment everywhere they go. And it is not long until they find a lair that accepts them.
