Each night before they went to bed, SkyShimmer told a fairy tale about mighty heros, beautiful lords and ladies, and evil villains. These stories were the best motivation and inspiration for young Calypso. He actually was not very fond of sitting over a book in order to learn, or being beaten up in the fighting training. If he had a choice, he often opted for the easier way. But he wanted to be a hero, like those dragons in SkyShimmer's fairy tale. Moreover, he wanted to be a wizard with powerful battle magic. Calypso had witnessed Firebender's strikes of fiery destruction, and he really would like to be like him, except for the fact that he preferred to have at least a leg length distance to an enemy. An imperial leg length, of course. And he was quite impatient. He begged Magica to train him, but to skip those boring security trainings, but she refused. Arcanum in the other paw was more open-minded, however SpringtideDream threaten with drowning Arcanum in the alchemical cauldron if he blew one of the hatchlings up. For this reason the irregular training sessions ended before they went over the exciting stuff. But at this point of time Calypso already had found a secret passage to the library somebody obviously had digged through the ice months before his birth. And this meant that he was able to get a glimpse on all the interesting books the grown-ups considered to "advanced" for hatchlings. He spent nights with things he was not supposed to know. His power rose quickly, and he had to hide it from his family. If they had found out, they would have closed his secret passage. On the other hand, some of the things he became occupied with touched his soul and gave him awful nightmares. He became quite nervous, almost anxious. He realised that he needed other heros by his side, like all the heros in the fairy tales. Someone who could keep enemies at bay while he prepared his conjurations. He learned that his den brother Kallisto, a quite skilled fighter, had a quarrel with ShadowOrchid. He considered that one paw washes the other, and together they found a way to teach ShadowOrchid a lesson. Since then, both are inseparable. They went out in the world in order to experience exciting adventures and become mighty heros. |
