Plague Runestone
┌━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┐

Confined for experimentation, there was a dragon, who we will call the Experiment, who lived at Quarantine Zone of Plague. Abandoned by his parents, or so he was told, the Experiment had undergone multiple virulent and unchained experiments by the Doctor who was obsessed with making the perfect dragon as tribute to mother Plaguebringer.

The Experiment never knew what lies beyond his living quarters. He didn’t even know that there was something more than what he sees. That is until he saw a dragon with beautiful wings fly above him when the tempered glass roof had been forgotten to be covered. Something bigger than the Quarantine Zone existed, he came to realize.

A few days of travel to the Wyrmwound, the Doctor said that it was time. One final step, and the reason he was alive will finally be obvious to him. About to be “baptized” into the giant cauldron in the middle of Plague, the Experiment saw the same dragon, the wonderful starlight dragon, fly above them. It paused and hovered high in the air when it saw what was happening, it’s eyes full of worry. And of resolution. Before the Doctor could speak, the dragon flew down and flapped its strong wings hard, the gust of air causing the doctor off balance and pushing him into the pool. Before he falls, he was able to grab onto the edge of the cliff. “Help me!” the Doctor screamed. One look at the dragon, one nod given to him, the Experiment snapped his tail, making the Doctor meet its doom.

The dragon smiled at the Experiment and, despite how dangerous it is, flew down to offer the Experiment its hand. “Come,” it said. “Let me keep you safe.”

Without second thoughts, the experiment took the hand in front of him, and off they flew. Or more like, off the dragon flew with the Experiment being carried. He did not yet know fully how to fly – he was never taught how. After a few hours, they came to the territory of Wind, where everyone smiled, swirled, and danced across the skies.

Days, weeks, moths passed by, and the Experiment learned how to fly on its own wings. The clan of the Aergate, and clans outside of it, had been warm and accommodating ever since the Experiment landed on Wind’s lands. But despite this, the Experiment felt like something was missing. Like a piece of him was lost. Pulerde, the dragon who had been by his side since day one, saw through this. She always saw through him. As he and the skydancer lounged by the grassy patches of Millmeadows, Pulerde asked, “Do you wish to find a home of your kind?”

The Experiment realized that indeed, he wanted. Wind was home. But he wishes to find where he truly belonged. His true home.

Pulerde stood up and offered her hand, looking exactly like how she did the first time their eyes met. “Come,” she said. “Let us fly to find your kin, the people that are truly of your blood.”

Off they went in search of a place the experiment wished to live at. As they flew by Plague, the Experiment saw a castle with a jet-black dragon by its front. The place called to him. The dragon called to him. Tugging at Pulerde’s feathers, he asked to be dropped off at the giant tree, the place where the castle stood near.

And so they flew. The skydancer gave the Experiment a kiss on his forehead. With one last smile, a smile the Experiment would never forget, Pulerde spoke with her voice that he would surely miss.

“You will always be welcome at Wind. Be safe, Animus.”
