MAHARAJ
he/him ☼ pansexual ☼ haberdasher

maharaj has a dangerous air about him. light-footed and smooth talking, this wildclaw’s position as a clothier to the rich and powerful has made him privy to many secrets that his clients would rather remain private. he wouldn’t describe it as blackmail, even if that’s what it is, really. if his clients speak so openly in his shop, it’s their own fault for attracting attention. accordingly, he maintains numerous allies of high status that owe him... a lengthy amount of favors. maharaj is hardly a cruel dragon, conniving as he may be, so they’re usually used for little things more frivolous than nefarious in nature. entry to a gala here, some glittery jewelry there- nonetheless, he’s not a dragon to cross, nor necessarily to ally with. when circumstances allow it, chances are that maharaj will place his own desires firmly above that of others.

when he isn’t busy with his social scheming, maharaj carries out his work with the utmost seriousness. having specialized in hat-making, he spends much of his time crafting ornate pieces to sell in the haberdashery, or as custom commissions for especially wealthy clientele. his wry wit makes him an amusing conversationalist, although he quickly abandons interactions with others when they prove not worth his time. (i.e., boring, not directly beneficial to himself, or anything of the variety.) while not entirely vain, he isn’t usually difficult to bribe, whether it be to keep a secret or sell one off. maharaj loves to work with silk and jewels, after all, and he requires some sort of ulterior income to finance his passions.

(it’s important to note that maharaj resides in the vicinity of songbird keep, and has certain relatives within it, but definitely doesn’t consider himself among their ranks. his individualistic nature isn’t suited for life within a clan, and the parties he attends supply ample enough social interaction as a semi-introvert. truly, he finds their exuberant ways incessant, but oddly enough never quite minds his interactions with their resident jeweler, adzuki...)

- probably terrible at flirting tbh
- kind of a wine snob, but also enjoys poking fun at wine snobs
- PERFECTED his “i’m extremely unimpressed rn” expression
- good at stealth, but the nigh ridiculous amount of jewelry/clothing his sometimes wears can easily negate that
- actually allergic to genuine emotional conversation
- just.... opened up hid haberdashery one day. no one knows where it came from and he laughs every time someone asks him
- morally gray, chaotic neutral (“i’m going to cause problems on purpose” type)
- has the SMALLEST of crushes on adzuki
- gets a halo bc he’s my fav <3
