Biography
Manabu
When Manabu first tried to join the SDF, his mother nearly prevented him from going, because she’d already lost her husband and oldest son to this highly dangerous job. En route to his new life, the train he’s on falls into a time axis, and sees his brother the day before his death. He tries to prevent his brother’s eventual fate, but is forced to watch it happen. He’s assigned to work with Bruce, the first officer of the Sirius Platoon. The two of them have different views on keeping the peace. They eventually become good friends. He starts having feelings for his fellow crew member Louise and the two of them eventually enter a romantic relationship. The other platoon members he starts seeing as a family.
Throughout the series he starts questioning whether his destiny is one that’s already been laid out for him, or if he has the power to choose his own fate. He’s headstrong and follows his heart, which sometimes gets him into trouble, but it ends up working out for the best in the long run. In one of the episodes he even turns down a higher position because he feels like he can accomplish more with the Sirius Platoon, aka the people he’s come to see as family.
When an extremely dangerous threat rears it’s ugly head, Manabu’s world is thrown upside down. He looses Bruce, who died an unfair death. The events cause his captain to get fired, and he and his fellow platoon members are dispersed. When it seems like hope is lost, he and his family rise up to the challenge to stop a practically unstoppable enemy. They become the last hope for the galaxy, and it’s during this final mission Manabu finds out that although his destiny was seemingly already laid out for him due to his heritage, he realizes he has the power to choose his own path.

"I know my duty, it’s to protect the people and I don’t need a gun for that.” - Manabu. Many times we have looked to the stars and dreamed. Manabu has done the same thing many times. For a long time he would watch the lights of trains traveling to an unknown destination in space. His dreams have been to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Space Defense Force. He eventually fulfills his dreams, and by doing so he helps save the universe. Biography Manabu’s father is a captain in the Space Defense Force, and ever since he was young he wanted be like his dad. One night when his dad is visiting, he and his brother sneak aboard their father’s train, known as Big One. Due to uncontrollable circumstances, Manabu is forced to watch his father sacrifice himself in the line of duty. This event leaves a mark on his life that will probably never go away. His brother joins the Space Defense Force(SDF), but ultimately dies in the line of duty. All of this happens before he’s fifteen years old, and the loss of both his father and brother leave a permanent mark on his heart. |
