History original monster (as far as the clan's "monster issues" go). he looks like a veilspun in everything but size: the name isn't a joke. titan is more massive than the largest breeds known to sornieth, towering over even imperials and ridgebacks. but it isn't his physical might that makes him difficult to handle; formerly a tyrant in ancient times, titan ruled by twisting the minds of his subjects, using magic to manipulate their emotions and cripple them with overwhelming fear. he is able to corrupt reality within his sphere of influence. anyone without an iron will and great skill in magic is vulnerable to seeing things that aren't there, and being driven to madness if titan focuses his power upon them specifically. his reign was ended when he was frozen alive inside a glacier in the southern icefield, where he remained until the modern age, surviving in a sort of stasis only by using his powerful magic to do so. (there have been theories on whether his accident was truly that, or rather the result of a successful coup by his former subjects, though of course there are no remaining records from that time to give evidence to this.) when clan vanguard moved to the frigid floes, they began carving out that very glacier as their home, not realizing what lay within. when they dug deeper and hit not ice, but frozen scales... well, first they were confused. then abruptly, confused and terrified, as the disturbances had weakened titan's bonds enough to awaken him, and allow him to start to break free. it was only thanks to the fact that they had recently been involved in combat, surviving an extended siege, that the clan was not destroyed. titan was subdued, for the moment. being frozen since ancient times had weakened him, leaving him scarred by frostbite. but as time passes, the old king seems to be regaining strength, his magic becoming more and more dangerous to the clan. they are scared of what they've unleashed, but too terrified to seek outside help, knowing that they will not be looked upon favorably for causing titan's return. titan smiles to himself when he is alone. how cute, to think that they are the ones who control him. | xxxxxxxx |
