Gaoler Scout: Xyrem - The "Monster"  Xyrem was a shadow-born Seeker hatched from an abandoned egg. Moving out of her paranoid clan early in life due to them being scared of her primal "affliction", she moved to the freezing region her ancestors hailed from. Going straight to The Fortress of Ends, she joined her Gaoler brothers and sisters, with a bit of persuasion, as even they were a bit nervous to allow someone with her "affliction" join their ranks. Due to her ability to move undetected easily at night and clear travel prowess, she was assigned to become a Seeker. Times were mostly uneventful, dragging shade creatures back to base occasionally but not too much of interest happening, that was, until one day. While doing her usual wanderings one night in the plague region, she heard a small whimper, it sounded pitiful and scared. Naturally, she approached the sound, thinking there may be a shade creature bothering some scared native or something of the like. But instead she found a young Gaoler, looking starved and somewhat stunted growth wise, being attacked by some native fauna after seemingly trying to sneak away a little of the beasts' carrion. Of course, Xyrem sprung right into action, flinging away the beasts and then grabbing the hatchling by its scruff, running away from them with it. Once they were far enough Xyrem settled, setting down the young creature and removing some meat from her traveling pack and offering it. The child immediately tore into it, poor thing must've been hungry for days, but shockingly to Xyrem, didn't seem intimidated by her. Chowing down and then snuggling into her leg. Xyrem was quite confused but she laid down, nudging the small hatchling with her snout, "Are you not scared, little one?" she questioned, getting a small shake of the head "no" in response. After thinking for a few moments she then asked, "Do you have family I can bring you to? And how about a name to call you by?" after a few moments of hesitation, she heard the hatchling respond in a shy tone, ".....No, to both". Xyrem's inky eyes widened slightly, "Is that so?" she questioned, shortly following it with a hesitant question, "Would....would you perhaps like to change that? I have no mate so it'd be just us but I wouldn't mind taking you on if-" before she could finish the child immediately hugged her as best as it could, struggling slightly with its short arms. She chuckled, holding the child with one arm, "I'll take that as a yes." |
