After the realm where his father, the God of Dreams collapsed, and he was returned to Sornieth, Yachid was faced with a very hard to swallow reality. That, like he'd been told all his life, outsides of dreams, he was no different than any other dragon. He couldn't even blame Godsen for what had happened, because the Gaoler had done exactly as he'd asked. Simply being a dragon belonging to Sornieth was enough for Godsen to shatter the Voidspace and collapse it entirely.
For his treachery, Yachid remains locked in the dungeon of the ruined Shallowlight castle, which was now becoming the castle of Hollowwell. While he'd helped Godsen, he'd betrayed everyone he'd ever known and threw away the life he could've had with his family, and even though it had served to benefit Godsen, he still saw him locked away for it. And now, all Yachid could do was sit there, chained up, and think.

As the region of Hollowwell continued to grow more unstable due to the collapse of the Voidspace, Godsen made a proposal to Yachid. Godsen could give him the power he craved, to be something better than ordinary, if only he'd take up his Father's position as keeper of the world of dreams. The isolation and feeling of helplessness ate away at Yachid's caution over the years, so he eagerly agreed.
Godsen recreated the realm of dreams and pushed something into Yachid before sealing him away into the dream world, forever. Soon, the thing that has been pushed into Yachid began to manifest, that thing being a piece of Shade. The Shade marred the dream realm, changing it irreversibly and binding Yachid to it forever as its eternal monarch. It's task finished, the Shade went silent, Yachid absorbing it, warping his own magic and being in return.
Nowadays, Yachid remains alone in his realm of dreams. Despite his many visitors, he never notices any, his perception of everything a reflection of his own dreams which no longer seem to exist. Only a few dragons could ever meet the King of Dreams and Nightmares in their sleep, yet none have tried.
That is, until Godsen pushed a certain blue Guardian into his life.
