"Ha! My metalwork could rival anything out of the Ashfall Waste!"
A blacksmith of a hearty and jovial nature, few of his flight can work fire as he does. Some find his an odd occupation, for one stray spark or one willful flame and all that he loves could be destroyed, as that is the nature of fire, alive, intense, wild. Yet with care and a practiced claw, anyone can tame an unruly fire, bend it to their will and use it to craft fine metals. This is something Hestan could learn from only one place, the Ashfall Waste, where the most talented metalworkers reside in their volcano, stoking the fires and shaping metal as only true talent can. Without fire running through his veins or in his breath as it does one born to the Ashfall Waste, Hestan's lessons were hard-learned. Many of the fire-touched dragons thought it impossible for one from a land of green, whispering trees, dry and brittle, to work with fire and yet with a determination as strong as any fire flight dragon Hestan devoted all of his energy and focus to his esteemed teachers and the lessons they taught. He caught no breaks, and any skills with fire had taken twice as long to learn as it did for his peers, but ever the unshakable optimist he was able to leave the Ashfall Waste with as much proficiency as the next fire dragon. Only with years of experience under his belt did he bring his forge to the Gladewalker clan, and though there were many wary glances and furtive whispers, he was trusted enough to leave him to his sparks and flames. Hestan shapes his metal with passion, forging everything from perfectly balanced blades, to delicate jewelry and decorative pieces. It's an art few nature dragons could master, but Hestan chased his dreams and came away with a highly valuable skill that his clan and flight now benefit from. Thus his business is quite profitable and is one of the few that extends even beyond the Viridian Labyrinth. Hestan is likely the most content dragon within the Gladewalker clan, his craft is more than his business, it's his passion and each finely crafted piece of metal is an expression of his soul. |
