If one were to make it past every Guardian to get to Gelatinoux's chamber, all they would find is a cavern with another pool, crystal clear and echoing with the sound of the dripping water from the ceiling, quite like any other cave with a water source. Theoretically, since no-one has ever made it past even the first pool, most would be distracted by the gold and treasure chests piled in the corners of the cave, thinking this was the final treasure room. The mimics would make short work of the exhausted and no doubt heavily wounded drake. But if they were wise, or just thirsty, they would inspect the pool and find their doom in the deadly acid of Gelatinoux's gelatinous body.

However, Gelatinoux is both the vault's last stand and their worst vulnerability. He cannot stay in the chamber indefinitely like other gelatinous cubes. Due to the water content of the chamber, to keep his acidity and stay small enough that he does not threaten the integrity of the true treasure beyond, he must emerge fully from the chambers to bask in the sun and dry out the excess every few months. In favorable conditions this takes at least a day, at worst, especially in winter, this could take weeks without the help of a spellcaster. It takes tight coordination to accomplish this feat without giving away the Vault's existence.
