Nightfall is the classic example of a dragon who acts tough but is truly a big softie on the inside. Born in the bleak Driftwood Drag, the agricultural prosperity only stirred conflict between neighboring dragons fighting for the best, mostly over plots of land. Nightfall quickly learned the importance of self-preservation after his brother kicked him out from their burrow, refusing to take care of a weakling like him. Nightfall was able to sustain himself, but only himself. His reliance on cunning and "borrowing" quickly guided him to a path of conning and thievery, which was manageable at first, until one too many dragons became aware of his trickery. As a result, Nightfall fled to the outskirts of his domain, close to the border of the Viridian Labyrinth. Here, he meets Oracle, an unexpected ally.

Originally born as a female Ridgeback, Nightfall was often discontent with his appearance but ultimately gave up trying to transition, until he met Oracle, who was experimenting with appearance-altering potions. Meeting them gave Nightfall a glimmer of hope to achieve his true self. Although he spent over a year mustering up the courage to ask Oracle for help, he was showered with love and support from Oracle when he finally asked them, who immediately started working to help Nightfall.

Oracle's unconditional kindness to Nightfall, both helping in his transition and simply being a decent dragon to him, warmed his bitter heart. He rarely admits it to them, but Oracle means everything to Nightfall and more. Even after Oracle completed their transition brew for Nightfall, they remained friends with each other, traveling to the Viridian Labyrinth for some ingredients for Oracle's next alchemy project.

Neither Nightfall nor Oracle considers their feelings for each other to be romantic, but they know that they will always care and have each other's backs.
