Scene: Shadowbinder's Domain
The product of many influential lineages, Herit feels pressure to train and become a great dragon in his own right.
His great-great-great-grandmother is Taara, one of the Starborn Prophets. Though diluted, stardust runs in his veins as well and he can sometimes glimpse events that have yet to be. His mother, Saphira, would sometimes talk about their ancestors and the great prophecies they had foretold.
His father, Tantrum, was of Vitali's line of warriors and had pushed his children to train in preparation for their duty as defenders. Herit ---
His grandmother, Grim, was a mix of the Flamecaller's Kin lineage and the Will O' Wisps. He is loyal like his ancestor, Ember, and knew that he would dedicate his entire life to whichever clan he pledged himself to.
Herit found the clan he would protect on that fateful day ...
Pair to her?
He'd heard stories about how his maternal great-grandfather, AnotherChance, had heard voices whispering in his head. How the prince had worried that he was losing his mind. Herit had felt that way, too. But after a while he'd learned to tune the voices out, or at least hear them as white noise in the background of his mind.
His perception of these voices changed when he met Morticia, a spirit medium. The skeletal Fae explained that the wisps of energy that hovered around Herit were the remnants of souls that couldn't leave this world. They had unfinished business, but few avenues to affect the world. They sought out mediums - which is what Herit is - in order to see their will done. By tuning out the voices, Herit was choosing not to accept his destiny.
Herit was a bit nervous about allowing the voices to influence him, but Morticia promised to guide the young Guardian in the ways of a medium. For months, Herit trained in learning how to listen to the spirits and understand what they needed in order to rest. He also learned how to use the powers bestowed on him by his heritage of many lineages in order to calm the spirits and keep their emotions from overwhelming him. He found that the spirits were drawn to the magic in the stardust in his veins, which shone like a beacon to lost souls.
As a sign of their friendship, Morticia gave Herit some of the glowing mushrooms she tended in her garden. The fungi clung to his back and their light shone in the darkest places. Even when his mentor wasn't with him, Herit never felt alone.
