Biography
Cinead
Adventurer, magical miracle and everyone's grandpa
Adventurer, magical miracle and everyone's grandpa
Cinead used to be a well-loved toy, made by an expert metalworker. He was given multiple articulation points and was painted in vibrant hues. He used to belong to a little hatchling who hauled him with them everywhere they went. At one point, however, the hatchling lost him in the middle of the woods, and neither the hatchling nor their parents were ever able to find him again.
Cinead spent multiple years abandoned, lying in the grass and watching the seasons go by. Rust settled into his joints and ruined his paint, and Cinead settled into the knowlegde that he would slowly rust away where he lay. His only company were the bugs in the grass and a few curious birds.
Then, something unprecedented happened. A dragon came by, who happened to be a learned mage. They were born as a Fire element, but had exhibited a talent for magic, so they had studied at Starfall Isles under the most skilled mages. They had combined their roots with their talent for summoning, and were able to create a consciousness for Cinead by working him in their forgefire. They were not able to completely remove all of the rust without completely changing Cinead's body, but Cinead didn't want them to either. He thought of the remaining rust as a reminder of his wonderful time before he became conscious.
In his newfound sentience, he found he rather enjoys traveling Sornieth. It reminds him of the times before, being lugged around everywhere. He also enjoys it immensely because he had been stuck in the same place for so long, so he finally gets to see the rest of the world outside of that little clearing in the woods. The things he enjoys seeking out the most are the advancements dragonkind has made. He is eternally fascinated by the metalworking in the forges in the Great Furnace, the efficiency of the buildings in the Millmeadows and the potential for new discoveries at the Observatory.
Because he is still rusty, he has some mobility issues. The pain is manageable as long as he keeps moving and doesn't stay still for too long, and he tends to stay away from damp environments. He's been given some oil by the mage who saved him, who said that it would help his issues and possibly even cure them in the long run. He has been reluctant to use too much of it, as he is worried about running out, and reserves it only for the worst days. He rather likes his rusty spots, after all.
