A Nature Ridgeback who back in her prime was well known for her fertility and ability to nurture any plant back to health, and even sometimes back to life. She’s had many children, mostly ridgebacks, but she had one special child in particular. Zephon.

Zephon was, suprisingly enough, born as the only imperial of the litter, and also the runt. But she loved her all the same. As the others grew and eventually left the nest, Zephon stayed by her side and assisted in her care and upbringing of the local flora. But as fate would have it, Zephon died almost out of the blue at about 13 years old, which devastated Carla. Despite the other Imperial’s protests at keeping the body around, Carla refused to let anyone touch her daughters corpse and began working on a way to somehow bring her back to life. She spent days, weeks, trying to figure out a way to get her back with any magic she could fiddle with, and when she thought she had found a way, she failed horribly. Her magic twisted and turned against her and almost ruined her own body, surrounding it in dark swirls, replacing spines with magic, flesh with shadow.
To her surprise and brief relief, she saw movement in her daughter’s body. Slow, crooked movement, as Zephon clumsily stood up, staying still, and then turning her head towards Carla, her eyes black and hollow looking as the magic poured out of her nose, ears, mouth, and eyes. Carla quickly realized that this was not her daughter anymore as the ‘revived’ Imperial quickly turned against her and attacked. The two fought relentlessly, Carla just barely able to take the shell of her daughter down. After she finally, with the help of a few other clanmates, put Zephon’s body in the ground, she fell into a deep depression and fled from the clan, wrapping her new body in cloak and bandage.

Today she still has her gentle personality, but she has finally learned to let living things live, and let dead things stay dead. Though recently, she has had a new addition to her life, whom she happily lets stay by her side… For how long though, she doesn’t know.
