Guardian dragon Blackthorn is to be kept in a medium-sized room in the corner of the Dim level exit that leads into the Dark level. The interior design of this room should mimic conditions suitable for Guardian dragons, and give Blackthorn enough room to feel at home and unthreatened. Do not make contact with Blackthorn unless necessary, and always keep a fire dragon nearby. Food is to always be served with Ashfall Prickler sauce to subdue the shade-touched symptoms as much as possible. When aggression is being shown, slowly make your way to the entance. Talking in a soothing voice is higly recommended. When all else fails, use firepower to subdue Blackthorn.

It had only been 3 weeks since Mirror dragon Tau had explored the Abandoned labratory. Veilspun dragon Lapis was able to convince Tau to tell her what happened with hypnotic methods. Lapis then set off for the Labratory, with the assistance of Mirror dragon Nightshade.

Lapis was able to successfully locate and steal a well-hidden shade note from under a tile. But before she could leave, she was confronted by one of the shade-touched dragons. This specimen was given the name "Oddity". Nightshade was able to redirect the creatures attention while Lapis made a quick escape. Once the note was sent to Tau, Lapis went back to the Labratory after word spread that Nightshade was yet to return. It was later discovered that Nightshade was able to scare Oddity back into the Labratory, but was severly injured in the process of doing so. The note that was stolen has been safely hidden so no one gets any "special" ideas.

1 week after the attack Nightshade had mostly healed, but one night found a pair of eggs near his den when he woke up for a midnight snack. No one knew were these eggs came from, and Nightshade was a male, so he certainly did not make them. Once the eggs hatched, the hatchlings were carefully checked for anything shade-like. The first hatchling, Mirror dragon Bermuda, was not suffering from any shade-like features, so they were safely sent to another clan. Bermuda was also the confirmation that Nightshade was indeed the father of this clutch. The second hatchling though, Guardian dragon Blackthorn, had certain signs of being shade-touched. Blackthorn was the confirmation that Oddity was somehow the mother of the hatclings.

No one knew how this happened, where Oddity is, or how the eggs got inside Nightshade's den. Skydancer dragon Constellation belives that a dragon snuck into the lab, stole the eggs, and brought them to Nightshade's nest, which would most likley be true. Blackthorn has been since relocated to a secluded part of the Dim level, and is under constant surveylance by Spiral dragon Latte.
