Being born blind has never been an obstacle for Seteth. It's something that, for him, is as natural as anything else. He's always moved through the world with confidence and grace, adapting to challenges as if they were never an issue to begin with. His social life is rich and varried, while his career as an author has provided him with a comfortable lifestyle in his young adult years. Romance never particularly interested him, but he's always had friends that he cherishes as dearly as if they were family.

Seteth was thrilled, and more than a little touched, when his two closest friends approched him one day with the idea of making him the godfather of their hatchlings. In his mind it had been more symbolic than anything, and a way to make him more significant in their lives than just a "family friend." He accepted happily, and their celebration lasted far into the night. He never expected that one day, several years later, his role would become much more serious than he ever anticipated.

When Seteth's friends passed away, they left behind three young children and a small business in the Shadow Flight. With no other family members, Seteth was the only one left to raise the children. It was an extremely daunting prospect. He never considered that he might be in this position. It was a lot to cope with all at once, and he had to put his own career on hold as he and the children adjusted to their new reality. Seteth moved into the children's family home, situated above the café, so that they wouldn't have to move so soon after losing their parents.

Working in a café was hardly Seteth's first choice, and he struggled to get a handle on things for a long time. Balancing his new work with his own grief, as well as the triplets' grief, left him frustrated to the point of tears more often than not. There was a lot of trial and error, and a lot of tension that took months to smooth over, but eventually everyone settled into a new normal. The triplets all began to help around the café, while Seteth found his rhythm caring for his new charges. Slowly the grief and turmoil calmed to a manageable level, and the four of them could finally be considered a family.

When the children became teenagers, Seteth mentioned the idea of formally adopting them. They were thrilled by the idea, and within a few weeks the Obelisk was officially their father. Well, as far as the law was considered, anyways. In the hearts of the triplets, Seteth had been their father for a while now. Not a replacement for their late parents, but instead a new figure to guide and take care of them for the rest of their lives.

Now that Antony, Marcus, and Edwin run the café mostly on their own, Seteth is slowly returning to his career as an author. Much of his days are spent sitting in the café, making conversation with customers while working on his comeback book. His sons lovingly pester him throughout the day, and he sometimes steps behind the counter to help them. The atmosphere in Café Genoise is one of welcoming, familial love. If happiness were a tangible thing, it would be found here- likely sitting on the shelf next to the two reverently framed pictures of the triplets' late parents.
