Biography

AGATE
The Newbie

Clan Role: Guard/Gardener
Mate: None
Pronouns: she/her
Bio: Agate was one of those statues the Earthshaker first brought to life, there in the underground cavern. Her first memory is of the barest glimpse of deep, sad eyes, and a voice that said, "You are my child. Protect and guide them." After that, she felt herself beginning to truly awaken. She flexed strong muscles and burst out of the stone, alive and opening her eyes for the first time. But she knew. She knew so much. Almost too much as she stood, blinking in the cave, with her awakened siblings. There was a lot going on, and she'd basically been given knowledge of centuries in the span of a few moments. Agate chose her name because she had come from the rock, and to the rock she could return when she wanted. She wanted to right then, but she worried it would confuse everyone else. So, instead, she left the chamber underground with the rest of them to stand blinking in the sunlight.

Driven by some instinct or other, Agate wandered, turning to stone whenever she encountered anything she didn't like or want to deal with. At last, far from the chamber she woke up in, she found a place that called to her: a wood within a wood, deep in the heart of the domain of a god that was neither the one who had given her life, nor the one whose magic she'd been granted. But she liked it, there. The clan living in the wood, Clan Mimsy, welcomed her with open arms and assigned her to guard the hoard from the strange dangers of the Borogrove. Which was fine, but Agate quickly found that she instead preferred cultivating plants and helping things to grow.

She started to train under Seymour and the other gardeners, taking to it surprisingly quickly. A lot of other things she was still unsure about, and whenever she got overwhelmed she would still turn into stone. But her teachers were patient and helpful, so she had all she needed to fulfill her calling.
