Biography
The first obelisk of CLan Whitethorn
He emerged from further back in the cave, where the bioluminescent waters sent by the Tidelord barely lit the newly carved dragons. As one of the first to be drawn in the map of the stone and raised from the ground by the Earthshaker Himself, he had seen so many of his brothers and sisters transform from mere wisps into towering figures, just waited to be released.
His name was Extos. How he knew that, he could not say. Just as he could not say how he knew he was one of so many Obelisk that were drawing dragons deep into Dragonhome, searching for strong magic. But it felt right, like the Earthshaker had written it into his mind specifically. As He did for so many others around him.
As his mind and his senses came to him, Extos could feel the vibrations of other dragons. Not just his stonework siblings but others. More dragons! And Mirth, The First Changed! His youngest sibling was greeting the best and brightest from the Dragonhome Preservation Guild. The very same dragons who they had been unknowingly calling out to since they were first formed.
As Extos and their siblings' rocky forms cracked and collapsed, they could see the bewilderment on the Guild's faces. Even Velya, the elder nocturne seemed to be in total disbelief. And Extos supposed it seemed that he and his young family were a strange sight. No longer were they statues shaped from the sediments, but fully fledged and breathing dragons. Various color patterns, genes, eye types and elemental alignments suddenly filled the room. A truly diverse group of dragons, made to interact with all of dragon-kind.
And to protect them.
As Extos shook off the last bits of dust from their shining crystalline form, they spotted a coatl with a familiar faceted pattern who was rushing down into the cavern with a hoard of other dragons. He could guess at who she was. From what the Earthshaker had told them, it wasn't just the Guild that had been digging down into the depths and following the deity's energy; it was nearly the entire continent of Sornieth. Dragon clans from the Southern Icefields all the way to the Viridian Labyrinth were sending dragons, supplies, and tools into the cause.
Something within Extos stirred, and he was drawn forward to the bright shining dragon. A mixture of shock, fascination and even a bit of fear was written across her face. Her eyes gleamed a bright purple color, like one of the amethyst geodes he was carved from. In an instant Extos knew this dragon held the key to his purpose, somehow. As a million thoughts ran through his mind, Her eyes widened suddenly.
"Your eyes! They're- they're changing color!" She exclaimed.
"Huh?" Extos was confused, he was almost sure the Earthshaker didn't mention anything about shifting eye color. After all they were elementally charged, not a gene that could be passed down.
Clearly the excited coatl's shock and fear were overtaken by her fascination, because before Extos could even craft a response she lowered her loupe across her left eye and nearly knocked him over as she rushed to get a better look at his face.
"They were this dull grey color, almost like how a hatchling looks before it fully absorbs their birthplace's magic but now..." She trailed off and pulled back, raising her loupe with a smile.
"Well if I didn't know any better, I'd say they look just like mine."
Extos' body shook with vibrations, happy, excited, nervous, confused, and so many others he didn't even know how to describe. He was even more sure now. The Earthshaker left him and his siblings to decide who they would guide. And this coatl, was who he was meant to be with. To guide. To protect. He could feel similar discoveries and emotions rising in his stone-shaped siblings all around the cavern.
"Who are you?" She asked him.
"Extos. My name is Extos."
"I'm Vera."
"It's wonderful to meet you Vera. We're the Obelisk. And we've been sent to warn you."
