History:
Hailing from the DalphiaRose clan, Echelon was born into the harsh lands of Dragonhome. He had to learn since his birth that only the most hardiest dragons would survive in this barren wasteland and make out of the nothingness of sand, stone and heat something called “home”.

But Dragonhome was so much more than that. Beneath the surface a pulsing city thrived, cast away from the heat above. His clan taught him to live in tune with the desert and nature, how to find water, even cultivate plants that where adapted to the arid live and grow mushrooms that would illuminate the cave walls, turning the dark tunnels into shining alleyways.

Echelon had always an affinity for plants, he understood and cared for them, and they gave for his endless care and love back all they could. Roots that dragons could eat, flower buds to make ceremonial adornments out of them, leaves to make herbal essences, sap to fix various things, and so much more, they did all they could, and Echelon did all he could.

He would travel beyond the borders of Dragonhome at young age and into the Viridan Labyrinth, only to get the purest water and seedlings there and to bring them back home. Even for a young Imperial Dragon that was a risky enterprise and often he just scraped by to get home alive. Thankfully nothing more than a horn was broken or a few pieces of fur where missing. He was a quite lucky kid indeed.

The other young clan dragons called him often a weirdo for doing such dangerous things for just a few seedlings and seeds and avoided him, since he often spoke with his plants to encourage them to grow and get stronger. That left him with only close family as social interaction, but he combated his loneliness with caring for his plants. They where his friends, and they would never let him down.

When he was still an adolescent, he was already an respected herbalist of the clan, and provided his family and clan with all sorts of medicine to keep them healthy and strong. That earned him lots of admiration of the dragons that called him in the past a weirdo and they profusely apologized to him for that. But Echelon was never a dragon to hold any grudges and he happily continued his work for the clan for many years.

After Echelon was officially in his clan considered an adult, he was advised from the elders to do more important duties than “gardening” in his underground lair. That set the usual so calm Imperial off. In an fit of rage he insulted the elders, stormed out of the den and fled into the Viridan Labyrinth, his only refugee he had.

He remained several weeks in the Gladeveins, unbothered by the nature dragons living in that area. They did not approach him, but also did not try to scare him off, it was quite odd indeed. They did not consider him one of them, but also not as an intruder. He did not question their motives and was quite glad with the little peace he had for the time being and lived there alone, meditating and feeding of various fruits and edible plants.

Echelon became so engrossed into mediation that the local foliage slowly encroached on his body, slowly covering him in moss, liana and even bark. It was like the ecosystem had accepted him as one of his own. Soon the animals did not shriek away from him anymore, and even the nature dragons did approach him sometimes, but nothing more than short conversations bloomed from that, since the Imperial was still impressive in size compared to the mostly Wildclaw dragons which seemed to live in that particular area.

One fateful morning, the long desired lambency should come to him in from of another Imperial dragon named Iridia. While he was lazily laying in a lake, dozing the day away, another Imperial entered the glade he was residing him. The female did mistake him as a fallen tree and so did not notice that it was in fact Echelon as she landed on him. Both got quickly submerged into the lake and after a zealous struggle with each other, they could untangle themselves and crawl out of the water.

Echelon was prepared for a fight to protect his new home as he stood nose to nose with the female Imperial, but her reaction was nothing he had expected.

She laughed and lifted gently a laver of moss up to uncover his face. Still smirking she remarked that she would have expected to see nature eyes hidden away under the moss, not gentle earth eyes.

Then Echelon had an epiphany. He is an Earth dragon, but was a Nature dragon at heart.

With that newfound knowledge about himself he asked to join Iridia’s clan, which she happily agreed to, but she would have first to consult the matriarch of her clan. They both arranged that they would meet on the next day again here in this very glade with the news if her matriarch would accept a new Imperial in her clan. Echelon did assure the dragoness that he would wait for her.

But in the night it came to him that he had nothing to offer to the new clan, and so his chances where very slim to be with his new friend. He had the knowledge of herbs, but not his seedlings, seeds and plants that he so carefully raised and grew to be perfect for his needs.

Without thinking about it further, he took flight and rallied to his old clan. As he arrived he was of course not welcome, but he could convince the guards to let him at least speak to his parents. Those where of course overjoyed to see their son again and completely disregarded the circumstances he left in the first place. But he brought not all that happy news with him

He wanted to leave the clan, but his parents had to get his plants for him that he could continue his work in his new clan, but in exchange he would leave his entire hoard behind, to show his goodwill and as apology to the elders. His parents agreed that it would be the best way to part from the clan, and assured they would deliver his message and apology to the elders, that no more grudges would be held in the future.

After a short goodbye, Echelon received his plants and seeds in several bags which he strapped onto his body and waved his parents goodbye. He returned to the glade and patiently waited for Iridia.

Appearance:

Echelon was a quite normal Imperial dragon until his “transformation” in the Gladeveins.

Nowadays various mosses and liana wrap around his serpentine body. Even bark has started to grow on his belly plates. One would think that all the flora would hinder his movements, but he can still move as swiftly as a regular Imperial adult. It seems quite off, as if the plants on his body where enchanted.

Combined that with his stone hide, sand coloured belly and brilliant hued green wings, he appears like a walking tree, or a part of the jungle that just got up and started to walk around. Even with his giant size he easily blends into the tropical forest and when he holds completely still, he entirely vanishes into the dense foliage.

This is quite useful when he wants to prepare an ambush, or wants to get away from an pursuer.

Personality & Behaviour:
As earth dragon he is of course not as wild as his nature born brethren but he can snap pretty quickly if you dare to harm his prized seedlings that he is quite possessive of.

Familiar:

NATURE BEAR YES?

Clan Duty:

His clan duty is to forage flora for the plant eaters of the lair to eat, which he happy obliges, since he considers the Viridian Labyrinth his second home.

He often ventures out into the harsh wilds of Dragonhome to cultivate and plant slowly seedlings of flora that has its home in the Viridian Labyrinth. Only the most durable survive and adapt to the dry hot climate of the desert slowly painting the desert in faint tints of green.

Through his determined work he has

Trivia:
