──────────✽──────────
Celes was hatched among the rushing pools of the Gladeveins, into a world of peace and lushness out of step with the voracious fight for survival occurring outside her tranquil home. Her parents thought her an odd one, always seeming to be listening to the wilds through which she tread rather than hunting in them. Later, after she had sobered somewhat, having left her parents' home to travel the world and lift the veil of her sheltered upbringing, educating and steeping in her newfound powers of healing -- Celes returned to the Labyrinth. She learned of her deeply blooded connection to the Gladekeeper and, restoring that connection, began a quest throughout the greens of her home realm, listening and learning 'on the job' as she healed lair-to-lair of resident Nature clans. It was in this period Celes most developed, growing from the disillusioned adolescent to the wise, if somewhat frosty young lady. It is where she developed a reputation for being meticulously -- sometimes even harshly -- fair. Having seen much of the world and putting little stock in how things seem to be, she became a rigorous seeker of truth, with a calm disposition capable of withholding judgement or action until she could first be sure of her own inner balance. Fiercely, she would defend impartiality and was often called upon to serve as ad hoc Scales of Justice in homes and makeshift courts. After many years, Celes' reputation far preceded her, and she was invited to live in the depths of the Behemoth and serve her mother deity from the verdant trunk in an official iteration of a Peacekeeper. But Celes was a daughter of sun, air, and rippling pool. She elected to help hold the Glademother's peace along the very fringes of her realm, gradually coming to hold dominion over the stretch between the Gladeveins and the Viridian Wilds anciently known as Ataria. Now, under the cool and even beauty of their leader and with the help of her Council and Keepers, the various realms of the White Lady's Court see a serenity not unlike that Celes grew up in. But Celes knows, in her heart of hearts -- the same vast, expansive heart through which the blood of the Glademother sings -- that such peace cannot surely last. Celes and her Mariope are both refined ladies. Though they have quite pointy horns if you stir up too much trouble. Celes does, on occasion and particularly Greenskeeper's, fancy herself up in festival attire: |
