Amirah is the clan's bard and the adopted daughter of the veilspun oracle Fate. Only Fate is aware of Amirah's true heritage through a vision she had: Amirah is one of the many doomed children of Konongur and Holden. However, Fate endeavors to hide the truth from Amirah, as her desire to do good runs in direct conflict with the fate in store for her should father and daughter meet: a life-time of slavery and forced conquest.

I am a Trapped Pearl! These dragons are secret royalty-- desendants of the petty tyrant Konungur and his queen-consort Holden. Their paths are ever at odds; Konungur seeks to have Pearlcatcher children to steal their pearls. He does this so that he can use them as pawns to expand his empire while retaining complete control. Holden, on the other hand, has every nest smuggled from the castle and replaced with dead eggs, buying their freedom at the cost of her own happiness.
