Driftwood is a lucky boy. All his brothers and sisters were gone. He was left on the ground to be found by another person, but it wasn't anyone else's fault.
He had only been born just after the War ended, so he had no real memories of what happened that day when he wandered into the woods. There was a strange man with a strange weapon who said his name was Drift and that he was in need of something. Then the strange man picked up Drift and carried him back home. It turned out that the mysterious stranger wasn'n from around here. His parents were gone and all his brothers were dead. His father was an officer, and one of his sons died on the battlefield that day. His mother, however, was alive, which meant that they could have kept Drift as their own.
But, no one wanted him anyway.

So his heart grew black spikes that pierced his chest, his spine, his tail vertebra.
He's like a driftwood, drifting and no place to return.

He tossed around the world, traveled with the water, and slept with the wood.
