A powerful, unbound denizen of unusual pride. Cainhurst exists in a strange state between life and death, having technically died some hundred years back after suffering grievous injuries. Her comrades, in a desperate attempt to save her, used arcane rituals to bind her soul to the mortal realm while she was bleeding out. Her soul became bound to the lantern she now carries with her, and this binding tapped into latent magical energies that now amplify her power. To her cohorts great shock and horror, the process did not leave a corpse behind, as her body managed to survive both the injuries and the ritual. What was left behind was a husk which took on its own life and identity, now haunting her as a shadow named Reaver.

Somewhere in the sands of history, Cainhurst was captured and imprisoned by some very malicious Shade, who held her prisoner for years. She waited, impatiently, for decades before the Shepherd's Alliance, then just a ragtag team of nobodies, broke into her jail and managed to route the Shade there. Ever persistent, Reaver followed her, lurking on the edges of the Alliance.

Despite being classified as a denizen by Brother, Cainhurst has a fully corporeal body separate from Reaver, appearing to function just as any other dragon. However, she does not sleep and she is most active around dawn and dusk, though nothing is actually keeping her from being out during daylight. Her self-centered, prideful attitude tends to put off other dragons, but Pendle and Soul have found her sophisticated tastes complimentary to their own ornate lifestyles.
